Natural Pyrethrum

Pyrethrum flowers belong to the genus Chrysanthemum, the commercially important species being “cinerariaefolium”. Looking at Pyrethrum flowers, they very much look like common daisies. Pyrethrum is a perennial plant which can grow only in some areas of the world, mainly in East Africa and South Australia.The world average production of Pyrethrum dried flowers is about 20,000 tons, one third coming from Australia and the remaining part from Kenya.Pyrethrum is a natural insecticide having a flushing, killing, and repellent activity on many pests (aphids, white flies, thrips, cockroaches, ants, various beetles, mosquitoes, flies, fleas) in Public Health, Home&Gardening, and Agriculture applications.Pyrethrum, whose pure active ingredient are Pyrethrins, can be found on the market as 25% and 50% extract.
